Don't forget the Dimple!
If you’re ever cooked a burger that turned into a softball, it’s because you forgot the dimple! Using your thumb, press into the middle of the patty before you cook. This will keep your patties shape as they expand. Another tip for the juciest burgers ever is to NOT overwork the meat when mixing the ingredients. Gently mix the meat until just blended.
Ranch Burgers
This recipe works on the grill also but we’re going to show you how to make them on a cast iron skillet for a year round quick delicious dinner. We’re gonna stick to the basics and focus on the burgers themselves, topping choices are totally up to you and the sky is the limit there.
Make sure you toast the buns and layer on your favorite cheese and other toppings.
It's true that Fat is where the flavor is but we prefer to use a healthier fat. Adding Olive Oil to lean beef is a great way to do that while adding extra flavor!
Yield Makes 4 (6-ounce) or 6 (4-ounce) burgers

Ingredients
- 1lb 93% Lean Ground Meat
- 2 Tbs Ranch Spice Blend
- 2 Tbs Dill Pickle White Balsamic
- 1 Tbs Dill Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Notes
Do Not Overcook!
Stovetop burgers are a quick weeknight meal — very quick. Even if you prefer your burgers well-done, burgers will be ready in 10 minutes at the most. Cook any longer and that’s when you wind up with dry, crumbly hockey pucks.Burger Cooking Times
- Medium-Rare (red in the middle): 6 minutes total
- Medium (pink in the middle): 7 to 8 minutes total
- Medium-Well (a smidge of pink in the middle): 9 minutes total
- Well Done (no pink): 10 minutes total
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine seasoning and ground meat. Work the meat to fully combine the spices evenly into the meat.
- Separate the meat into 4 equal sections and form the patties.
- Make a dimple in the middle of each patty, just use your fingertips to pat the middle of the patties slightly thinner than the outer edge — maybe a quarter of an inch more shallow, at most.
- Rub the patties down with Dill Pickle White Balsamic, you’re looking for a very light coating.
- Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat until you can see it start to smoke slightly. You want the pan hot enough to sear the meat as soon as it hits the pan.
- Cook to desired doneness flipping halfway through, see cooking times below.
